RUN AT PITTSBURGH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT SCHEDULED FOR SEPT. 30 ON AIRPORTS 25TH ANNIVERSARY WEEKEND

PITTSBURGH – The 2017 Flyby 5K and NEW 2-Mile Fun Run at Pittsburgh International Airport is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 30. Participants can run or walk a one-of-a-kind course that grants special access to a runway at the airport, past aircraft and taxiways.

“Following the success of last year’s inaugural 5K, we are delighted to once again offer the community this unique opportunity to experience the sights and sounds of the airport by running or walking on the runway,” said Christina Cassotis, CEO of the Allegheny County Airport Authority. “We love seeing families and friends of all ages enjoying this event that just happens to coincide this year with the airport’s 25th anniversary weekend.”

The 5K race will start at 10 a.m. and costs $35. The 2-mile Fun Run will start at 10:45 a.m. and costs $20. Kids four and under are free.

Race amenities include:

  • Technical men’s or women’s finishers shirt
  • Beautifully designed finisher medal for the 5K and the 2-mile
  • Access to a closed, USATF-certified course
  • Post-race food and entertainment

The family-friendly race will benefit the Allegheny County Airport Authority Charitable Foundation, a nonprofit organization established in 2013 to with a mission of enhancing the experience of travelers, including members of the military and their families, at Pittsburgh International and Allegheny County Airport.
