AIRPORT SEEKS MULTI-LINGUAL VOLUNTEER AMBASSADORS TO ASSIST PASSENGERS IN TERMINAL

PITTSBURGH – Pittsburgh International Airport is seeking multi-lingual volunteer ambassadors who are interested in greeting arriving international passengers, hosting visitors in our Military Lounge, and assisting customers in Baggage Claim.

Volunteer ambassadors, who must pass a background check to work in the airport, will receive an orientation and customer service training, and will be an integral part of the airport team in welcoming international passengers coming from Reykjavik, Iceland; Frankfurt, Germany; Toronto, Canada; the Caribbean; China and more.

“We already have a wonderful and dedicated group of about 75 volunteer airport ambassadors,” said Allegheny Airport Authority CEO Christina Cassotis. “We are looking to grow our numbers as we expect to have hundreds of new international passengers coming through the terminal this summer. We want our terminal to reflect the friendliness and hospitality that the Pittsburgh region is known for.”

Airport officials hope that local high schools and universities with Spanish, French, German and other international degree programs will respond to the call for volunteers.

Duties of volunteer ambassadors include:
  • Greeting arriving passengers and helping them through the international arrivals area and throughout the terminal
  • Staffing the Military Lounge (open 7 days per week) and Baggage Claim information desk
  • Assisting with special events including flight announcements and inaugural flights
  • Escorting passengers with special needs and other VIPs

Flexible hours are available, and volunteer positions are suitable for those 18 years of age and older.
