MEDIA ADVISORY: Pittsburgh International Airport, Air Canada, Canadian Government Officials To Celebrate Launch Of Nonstop Service To Montreal

What: Join Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, Pittsburgh International Airport CCO Eric Sprys, David Ray, Manager of Business Development for Air Canada; Bernie Mongilio of CGI; Ryan Wall, Trade Commissioner for Pittsburgh, Canadian Consulate General; and Andrea Townrow, Director of the Quebec Trade office, who will address how the new service will benefit the region. The flight is scheduled to depart at 4:15 p.m. to a water arch salute and a celebration with passengers at the gate. International traffic at PIT was up more than 36 percent in March and 33 percent year-to-date, with more than 223,000 travelers flying abroad. International traffic is expected to continue growing throughout the summer. Condor resumes seasonal nonstop service to Frankfurt on May 18, and Delta resumes its seasonal nonstop service to Paris on a larger 767 on May 24. Additionally, nonstop flights to Reykjavik which are currently offered four days per week year-round on WOW, will expand to five days per week starting this week.

When: 2 p.m. Thursday, May 17. Media should arrive no later than 1:40 p.m. at the Airport ID Badge Office in Baggage Claim in order to receive a pass to go airside.

Where: Pittsburgh International Airport, Airside Terminal, Gate A18.

Parking: Media may park in the courier lot next to the terminal. Unmarked vehicles should put a placard on their dash indicating their media outlet. Follow the signs for commercial vehicles to Commercial Arrivals. The taxicab holding lot is on the left. Take the first right following the flashing crosswalk at the holding lot. This road is marked with a sign “Emergency Access Road.” Take the first left into the Courier Lot. It is marked with a sign “Authorized Vehicles Only.”
