MEDIA ADVISORY: Groundbreaking and Briefing for Pittsburgh Airport Innovation Campus to be Held Dec. 6

What: Join County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development Dennis Davin, Airport Authority CEO Christina Cassotis and other officials to officially break ground on the Pittsburgh Airport Innovation Campus.
 
The Airport Innovation Campus is the designation given to the long-range master plan for real estate development at PIT, and features flexible building and land use options, which will be unveiled Thursday. The three-phase construction plan includes up to 16 pad ready sites available by 2023.
 
When/Where: Official Groundbreaking and News Conference Thursday, Dec. 6, 10:45 a.m., Pittsburgh International Airport (former World Trade Center site, Outdoors) Media will be given access to the site that overlooks the airfield and should arrive 5-10 minutes in advance.
 
Directions and Media Parking: To access the groundbreaking site:
 
•             Enter the airport via the main entrance.
•             Follow yellow signs for Commercial Curbs and Rental Car Return, past the landside parking garage and rental car return entrance.
•             Veer left toward green Airport Exit sign AFTER passing the Hyatt Hotel Entrance. 
•             Driving out of the airport, get into the far right lane.
•             On the right, look for an Allegheny County Police Department vehicle at the bottom of a side access road (before the Sunoco). 
•             Proceed up the hill on the access road, and follow signage to the groundbreaking site.
 
Special Instructions: This event will take place outdoors under a tent on dirt and gravel. Please wear warm clothing and footwear.
