AIRPORT AUTHORITY TO CONDUCT PUBLIC AUCTION OCT. 14

PITTSBURGH – The Allegheny County Airport Authority will conduct an auction of abandoned vehicles, used Airport Authority vehicles and equipment, and other unclaimed items from Pittsburgh International Airport at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017 in the Heavy Equipment Building on Cargo Road.

In advance of the auction, the Airport Authority donated several boxes of items including clothing, eye glasses and medical equipment left longer than 30 days in Lost and Found to local charitable organizations.

The clothing was donated to Circles of Greater Pittsburgh, an organization that assists individuals living in poverty in Turtle Creek, McKeesport, East Liberty, Sharpsburg and other neighborhoods. Additionally, a large box of prescription eye glasses was donated to The Lion’s Club, Pittsburgh Chapter, along with medical supplies (wheelchairs, canes, crutches) to Global Links, which will prepare them for distribution to those in need.

All other unclaimed items including jewelry, electronics, and more will be auctioned. Additionally, used ACAA items including snow equipment, an electric cart, lawn mower and other miscellaneous outdoor equipment will be auctioned. Refreshments also will be sold.

The auction, conducted by licensed auctioneer Joe R. Pyle, will begin at 10 a.m., with doors opening at 8:30 a.m. There will be a 15 percent buyer’s premium with 5 percent waived for cash or check purchase. Cash, checks and credit cards will be accepted. Payment, inclusive of any taxes and fees, must be made in full at time of auction.

Vehicles will need to be towed from the auction site unless purchased by a dealer with appropriate plates. All items purchased the day of the auction must be removed within seven days of the date of sale.
