VISIT “WORLD'S LUCKIEST FISHING VILLAGE” ON NEW NONSTOP FLIGHTS ON ALLEGIANT

Florida’s Emerald Coast – the name alone inspires visions of blue-green water, breezy palm trees and strolls on white sand beaches, a welcome respite from Pittsburgh’s stark brown landscape this time of year.

Florida is THE most popular leisure destination from Pittsburgh. From January to March 2016, more than 200,000 passengers flew from PIT to the state of Florida - about 2,215 people each day. During these three months, nearly 1 in 4 PIT passengers are snowbirds bound for the Sunshine State.

With today’s announcement of new nonstop service by Allegiant to Destin, Fla., Pittsburghers can now visit the heart of the Emerald Coast for romantic getaways or affordable family vacations. Additionally, Destin marks the 11th airport served nonstop from Pittsburgh to Florida on six different carriers.

The new seasonal flights on Allegiant will provide Pittsburgh area travelers with their only nonstop flight option to northwest Florida twice a week to experience dolphin cruises, open-air shopping, fresh local seafood and plenty of water sports.

Dubbed “ the world’s luckiest fishing village,” Destin houses the largest and most elaborately equipped fishing fleet in the State of Florida. Recreational opportunities also include golf, tennis, diving and snorkeling. The 100 Fathom curve draws closer to Destin than any other spot in Florida providing the speediest deep-water access on the Gulf.

Additionally, the city’s Harbor Boardwalk stretches nearly a quarter of a mile along beautiful Destin Harbor, offering increased access to the waterfront and preserving the harbor’s unique character.

Destin also enjoys a prime location between Pensacola and Panama City Beach. So, as the locals say, get a little sand in your soul, and get there on new nonstop flights from Allegiant beginning May 31. Introductory fares are just $42 one-way. Book at www.allegiant.com.
