The Allegheny County Airport Authority assists passengers recover items lost at Pittsburgh International Airport. These items include anything turned into the landside and airside information desk.
There is an exception made for baggage. The Allegheny County Airport Authority will, under no circumstances, accept tagged baggage or untagged baggage deemed as “carry-on” luggage. All baggage with airline baggage tags are the responsibility of the Airline’s Lost and Found. All untagged, “carry-on” or unmarked baggage will be turned over to the Allegheny County Police for security purposes.
Individuals wishing to recover an item can do so by calling the airport’s Lost Item Hotline at 412-472-5525 from 7 am to 8 pm, Sunday through Saturday, and provide the following information:
- Name and phone number
- Detailed description of lost item
- Date the item was lost at the airport
- Where, if known, the item was left
If the airport has the lost item, arrangement will be made with the caller for shipment of the item. Any item the size of a credit card will be sent via United States Postal Service at no charge. Any other item will be shipped either cash on delivery via United States Postal Service or by Federal Express at the caller’s discretion and expense. A $2 handling fee is added to the cost of delivery. In-person recovery of lost items is made by appointment only.
Items left unclaimed after 30 days will be sent to the following local charities:
- Goodwill Industries
- United Way of Allegheny County
- Women’s Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh
