JetBlue to Launch Service from PIT to Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International

PITTSBURGH, PA (April 21, 2014) - Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald and the Allegheny County Airport Authority announced today that JetBlue Airways will launch new service from Pittsburgh International Airport to Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) on October 29, 2014.

“We’re really excited to be adding another flight to the offerings at Pittsburgh International,” said County Executive Fitzgerald. “This connection to Florida will benefit business and leisure travelers and gives our region one more option for their travel. We look forward to continuing to work with JetBlue to grow that service here in Pittsburgh.”

To help increase bookings for this new service, the Allegheny County Airport Authority announced that it will begin a parking promotion to coincide with the flight’s start on October 29. The program will offer discounted parking for customers who fly from Pittsburgh International Airport to Ft. Lauderdale nonstop. Further details will be announced in the coming months.

“Pittsburghers have asked for a nonstop, year-round connection to Florida. With the introduction of this service, customers will not only save time, but also save money as this is traditionally a high-fare route. Besides access to South Florida, this will also meet the great demand for travels onwards to the Caribbean and Latin America,” said Robin Hayes, JetBlue’s President.

JetBlue currently operates 26 nonstop routes out of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood and new nonstop routes from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood to Montego Bay (Jamaica), Port of Spain (Trinidad and Tobago) and Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) to start soon. Air fares are now on sale starting at $79 one way for travel between October 29 and December 17, 2014 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday, with blackout dates November 20 to December 1, 2014. Tickets must be purchased by April 15. JetBlue’s PIT-FLL service will complement the airlines’ existing route from Pittsburgh to Boston Logan International Airport, which departs four times daily.

“Ft. Lauderdale is an extremely important route for the region,” said David Minnotte, Chairman, Allegheny County Airport Authority. “It is not only an outstanding vacation destination in its own right, but also a gateway to the Caribbean through connections at FLL. It is also a popular departure spot for many cruises.”

The flight is currently available to be booked at JetBlue’s schedule between Pittsburgh (PIT) and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood (FLL), effective October 29, 2014 follows:
